The artist paints or draws directly onto a smooth, non-absorbent surface—such as a metal, acrylic, or glass plate—using printing inks or water-based oil paints. While the ink is still wet, a sheet of paper is placed on top (often dampened if using oil-based ink) and then run through a press or hand-rubbed with a tool like a spoon or roller.
