As many of my pieces, there is the "letting it all out" at the beginning, no filters, raw, pouring out all the emotions onto the canvas. Then I leave it for a couple of days and keep on looking at it and add or take away here and there, turning the ugly and bold into interest and character. It's as if I'm trying to see what the painting is trying to tell me, where it wants to go. The final phase is more of a healing and dressing the wounds phase, cherishing each scar and enhancing the assets, letting the beauty shine through.
