Sandy Leslie is an artist, born in 1971 in Lisbon, Portugal, from a Portuguese mother and a Scottish father.
Her work is mainly abstract, the process very intuitive and the result colourful, expressive, emotional and contemporary. It is Sandy’s choice of colours that most draw people to her paintings, followed by the freshness and naivete of her approach. She has started dabbling in figurative art and intends to further pursue this in an abstract manner as well.
“Sandy Leslie is able to obtain both harmony and chaos in her paintings as she sublimates her emotions into colourful abstractions. Her paintings, rich in content both in colour fields, figurative interruptions and stroke styles, literally fills the canvas to its limits and keeps the viewer’s alert attention.” Eivor Winther Sunneson, Director at Drammen Museum, Norway.
