I consider myself a painter of abstract works, guided not by the compass of representation, but rather by the tides of impulse and intuition. In this creative space, I find a language that transcends the literal—a dialect that appeals directly to the emotional core of both artist and observer. I return to a single refrain: “Ask yourself not what it is, ask yourself how it makes you feel. On that basis, you may just find that elusive connection with art.” This philosophy is the cornerstone of my practice, a gentle invitation to approach the unfamiliar with open senses and an open heart.

Volunteering as artist in residence for Looking at the Stars foundation, I partner with classical musicians, creating art during musical performances in correctional institutions in Ontario and Quebec, Canada, United States, as well as in Eastern Europe. See: www.Lookingatthestars.org . My work can be found in both corporate and private collections across Canada, US, United Kingdom, and France.

Statement

The medium of music is meant to affect us in either a physical or emotional condition. My volunteer contribution in the Canadian prison environment (www.Lookingatthestars.org) grants me a unique opportunity to collaborate with classical musicians to execute artwork during a live musical performance.  In these performances, our audience is composed of individuals who, by the nature of their circumstance, are cut off from the music that so often serves as the heartbeat of human connection. It is this very audience—those most distant from the concert hall—who perhaps need music's transformative touch the most. It is this act that elevates my appreciation for the fusion of music and painting as a profound art form was best described by Miles Davis who said, "A painting is music you can see. Music is a painting you can hear".
