Rosalynd Coulter Semple
Debert, Nova Scotia
I'm a self taught artist living in Debert, NS. I paint mostly landscapes and animals in watercolour and am in awe of how colorful nature is.
MessageI grew up in Tatamagouche, NS until I left for school in 1986 and spent 30+ years in Ontario raising my family.
I was often in the home of my grandparents in Nova Scotia, both of whom were very artistic, and I grew to love art and creativity from them.
I dabbled in lots of different art forms over the years, but it has been in the last couple of years that I have found my love of painting in watercolor. This was my grandmother’s favorite medium, and we spent many hours reviewing books and discussing innovative ideas and paintings on which we were working. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed in June of 2019 and did not get to see me truly embrace watercolor. I have since gone on to take several classes and workshops to improve my skill.
I love painting animals, landscapes, portraits and occasionally still life. I am fascinated by colour and how incredibly colourful nature is. I am currently a member of the Truro Art Society, The Fraser (Northumberland Arts Council), Gallery 215 as well as VANS (Visual Arts Nova Scotia).
Statement
I am an emerging artist originally from Tatamagouche, NS. I left the Maritimes in 1986 for Ontario where I married and raised 4 daughters over 30 years. I returned home in 2019, re-married and currently live in Debert, NS where I have been pursuing watercolour painting for the past three years. My focus tends to be wildlife and landscapes. I am fascinated with colour and how it feeds our soul.
