28" x 48" . Acrylic & Inks on Canvas
(32" x 52" custom framed)
'Wild Roses’ started with a large sheet of loose canvas, prepped with various gesso textures as inspired.
With canvas flat, using assorted Golden acrylics and inks, wet-on-wet, I allowed the color and fluids to work together with as little interference as possible, yet still in control of my desired emotion or thought; intention of the moment.
The next part is indescribable really, as it is the trance part. Using black paint bottles in various widths, I pretty much attack the painting as mood inspires me. Some of this is done at various degrees of moisture allowing the effect of line that I desire.
Many of the marks are done by hand after laying down with tip, as I feel they are needed. In the case of 'Wild Roses’, the dense, buttery crimson paint was applied by finger, within perhaps 2 or 3 minutes - it had to be, as the wind was blowing in the painting. I was there and needed to be in sync.
And as suddenly as it all appeared, as a natural scene, it ended, like a photograph, captured in a moment.
