Most days I like getting to the studio early, 6'ish or so, rather than lay in bed and allow my mind to have it's way with me, with it's usual array of negative, self-defeating thoughts.

I love to sit quietly with my coffee and blurt out my thoughts onto paper, the good, bad and ugly. It's really not important to me whether I can read them. Rarely do I even glance down, except to see if I'm running out of paper, as it doesn't matter. The purpose of this morning ritual is a simple emotional purging which I throw away afterwards.

Well, on the morning of the 28th of June, 2020, something a bit different occurred. Sprinkled within my thoughts were requests, petitions, prayers for guidance, answers of how I could be of service - to be part of the solution as opposed to the problem.

Thinking back to what was contained in my 'Scribble Rant,' there was an awful lot of negativity, of complaining of the way things are, of resentments for this and that and yet, not many solutions. I did not see or feel any room for compromise, only separation and increasing frustration, anger and rage.

Then ... this thought popped into my mind: "Do unto others."

"Whoahhhh". WTF. Where did that come from? I felt completely different and started looking at things a little different - not like a burning bush kind of different - just a bit more tolerant different.

I can't adequately describe to you what happened next as it's all pretty much a creative blur. I jumped up, grabbed a 3' x 3' canvas, my black paint squeeze bottles and started writing, similar to what I was doing moments before. This time, however, some of the scribbles were actual words and on occasion, I was emotionally moved to grab my large tip bottle to add BIG words?

A couple hours later it was done. I read what I'd written. There were messages encouraging Protest: "Protest is the Path to Peace,' and Fear: "Fear is the Problem," and Love: "Love is the Solution," and even how to mend our differences and perhaps even get along someday. Or at least understand or respect each other. "Shut the Fu&k up and Listen..

I am allowing my work to flow wherever it goes these days. As I started out, "No Change - No Change," Well, I'm Changing, and I'M CHANGING!
