“AlmostNewYear” Acrylic is an “Iconic” piece thematic of the 3-dimensional shadow-casting style. On cradled birch hardwood artboard 24” W X 36”L X 1.5” D with two 3-dimensional object sculptures, cadmium orange wood circle, .5” thick on a .75” elevated platform and a .5” diameter hardwood rod, hand-constructed triangle-rectangle combination in the shape of a simple “house”. An acrylic, black-painted shadow pattern is painted from the outline of the actual shadow cast on the sticks by an iridescent light, positioned to the left (Sun) side of the artboard. The piece is designed for a Right-positioned light to cast an “opposite real” shadow on the green-yellow high-contrast acrylic paint. This generates two apparent shadow casts: the one to the left is an actual shadow, and the one to the right is an acrylic-painted shadow. The yellow-green acrylic background emphasizes the shadows cast when the light is correctly positioned.
