While driving down a back road in Door County, Wisconsin, the brilliant light shining among the leaves of the sumac caught my eye. I loved the lighting, so took multiple photos and stored the shots for years. I started a painting, using three canvases to depict the branch, and used the canvases for instruction in workshops, demonstrating the painting strokes finishing an inch or so every workshop (so the triptych took decades). The triptych original has sold, but for the archival print I merged the three panels into one and it is available as a framed work, the frame a simple, almost-black color with a touch of gold.
