My piece, You Don’t Bring Me Flowers, began with a simple still life of fresh blooms arranged in a white vase against a mid-century modern fabric backdrop. I wanted to create a dreamlike quality by blending realistic floral detail with abstract, muted shapes and colors in the background. The contrast between the lush reds, pinks, and purples of the flowers and the soft pastel tones around them reflects my exploration of memory and imagination—how everyday moments can feel both vivid and surreal. This work is a meditation on beauty and the unexpected ways it can appear.
