Welcome to my Portfolio. My artwork is as varied as my interests in life—sometimes abstract paintings, or collage, or mixed-media pieces; many times it’s photography. I create art to capture the essence of place by telling my stories, sharing my memories, and conveying my thoughts and feelings on canvas.
Statement
Rene Griffith is a multi-faceted artist who often uses her own photographs, collage materials, and paint in her artwork. Her collages are created with paint, torn papers from vintage and modern magazines, maps, handwritten letters, stamps, postcards, and other memorabilia. Her paintings are constructed of many layers of acrylic paint and will often include graphite, wax crayon, charcoal, colored pencil, and oil pastels. Interior spaces come alive with her colorful and exciting artwork. Rene is an artist and visual storyteller who creates images that evoke memories and feelings from the beauty she discovers in the world around her. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with abstract shapes and colors, she paints to capture the essence of a place in order to convey her thoughts and feelings. Her mixed-media art is often reminiscent of an earlier era yet is also unmistakably contemporary, intending to create modern art filled with layers of history and texture.
Griffith is one of only two artists whose work (52 artworks) was featured in the exhibition Abstraction: Retrospective Memories in 2021 by the Foosaner Art Museum in Melbourne, FL. She has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions and in galleries in California, South Carolina, and Florida. Griffith’s paintings and photographs are included in many private and corporate collections such as ABC's Scandal TV series, Marshall Fields Corporate collection in Chicago, Orlando Regional Medical Center, Hyatt House Orlando Airport hotel, and The Palm House, Palm Beach. Her mixed-media work is represented by galleries in Vero Beach, St. Augustine, and Miami (Coconut Grove).
Working with homeowners, art galleries, interior designers, art consultants, and corporate art buyers, Rene creates original contemporary art for residences, corporate offices, hotels, restaurants, and medical facilities. Rene Griffith's artwork can be found across the US and Canada in many private and corporate collections. Griffith, a Florida native, grew up in Eau Gallie during the heyday of the Space program and currently works in her home studio in Indialantic, Florida.
