Nikki Jacquin (Previously; Sacchetti), a full time portrait artist for 25 years, is also a respected organizer of international painting holidays. For three years, Nikki enjoyed the role of a paid Guest Artist in Residence at the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park in Saskatchewan; through the Art in the Park Program of the Sask. Arts Board. While there, Nikki was inspired to explore the trails as a metaphor for labyrinths and pilgrimages. She found hiking to be a contemplative practice that grounded her spiritually. The resulting work from these hikes was an exploration of copper plate and leaf as a medium. Nikki employs chemical etching, carving, and embossing, along with many other techniques. Unpainted passages reflect light back to the viewer much in the same way the light on the trails would. Nikki uses only repurposed copper to be environmental. Similar to past explorations with new materials or techniques, this new found information has refreshed Nikki's approach to portraiture. In 2018, Nikki was honoured to be named the YMCA Woman of Distinction receiving the Jacqui Schumiatcher Arts Award. She was recently featured as one of Saskatchewan's female artists by SaskGalleries and the Regina Art Collective for International Women's Day Mar. 8, 2021. During the Mann Public Art Gallery's 47th Winter Festival Art Show and Sale in 2023, Nikki was given the award for "Expressing Canadian Identity Through Landscape Painting" sponsored by The Men Who Paint by Guest Juror Wally Dion. She is also a Professional Member of The Saskatchewan Craft Council!
