Art Lab
This is where I play and explore different techniques, mediums, and subject matters outside of my series work.
Compassion International - Uganda
In 2016 my husband talked me into going to Uganda to meet the two boys we sponsor through Compassion International. After returning from that trip I had so many emotions I needed to process. I also felt compelled to support Compassion International in a deeper way. The images from our trip spoke to me and I felt they could also speak to others as paintings, so I began a series of thirteen portraits featuring children we met while in Uganda. That series is used to spread awareness of the wonderful work Compassion is doing in Uganda and throughout the world to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. All money from the sale of these paintings goes directly to Compassion International's "Greatest Need" fund.
It's All Cellular
This series in progress depicts how cell phones are consuming our lives. It shows how society is more obsessed with documenting experiences rather than being present in the moment. Within this series I am also part of the problem I am trying to depict by gathering reference photos from the world I live in and capturing them with my cell phone.
Keepsakes
This series consists of portraits of my family painted on wooden keepsake boxes. These particular portraits are not for sale; however, I do take commissions to create personalized portrait(s) of you or a loved one. A 8.33" x 8" wooden keepsake box ranges from $250-$400. Contact me to discuss the creation of your keepsake today.
Leaves
I love leaves! For many years, I have collected photos of the leaves I see. I’m fascinated by the various sizes, shapes, and colors. As part of the 2023 Art House Dallas Origin series “On Mortality,” I read J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Leaf by Niggle” where Niggle’s life’s work comes down to a single painting of a leaf, and I knew instantly that I wanted to highlight leaves for this exhibition.
I took the opportunity to play and experiment. I wanted each leaf to stand out and be unique so I used different mediums to speak of their individuality. But Art House Dallas is all about creating community for the common good so I brought them together and connected them through the installation in the gallery. Finally, I hope that they go home with someone to remind us all how the community grows and spreads through supporting the arts, artists, and Art House Dallas.
Prints - Embellished
These artworks start with a print of one of my paintings. It is printed with high-quality ink and paper and will last a lifetime. I mount them to a wooden panel so there is no need for a frame but are sturdy and easy to hang. Then I add some original detail that is not in the original painting. This makes the print an original artwork at a fraction of the price.
Through the Mist
These artworks began as a study of realism vs. abstraction. They have grown into a collaboration with my husband, Robert Prince. The plan is to combine these paintings with his poetry creating a book. More works will be added as the projects develops.
