Oil, cold wax, and pastel on cradled panel. This piece is in the series "Life, Love, and Other Natural Disasters".
The monsoons have officially arrived, in many areas of the country. With it comes much needed rains for our drought stricken country. The humidity builds, the temperature rises, and the sky darkens – all of a sudden, there is rain, and lots of it. For many of us, it is either feast or famine, but this year had the promise of hope and the possibility to reverse some of the damage the drought has wrought. On the other hand, with what is happening in the world (and not just weather events) it feels as if there is a storm brewing, which can either bring devastation or clear the air. We will have to hang onto the glimmer of hope we see through the storm.
