Oil and cold wax on cradled panel. In the series Life, Love, and Other Natural Disasters.
I painted Flood Stage in June of 2022, in response to the “perfect storm”, big snow pack, rain, and extra warm temperatures, which caused the extensive and somewhat surprising flooding of the Yellowstone River. This painting is a tribute to my old home town of Livingston, Montana that was affected by the flooding as some areas had to evacuate. Flood Stage also refers to the surge of emotions that is felt when a natural disaster or other life changing event, tips the scales of our psyches.
