This was the first painting I've ever done in a series. I had heard that you could learn a lot as an artist by painting in series, but had taken a while to try it out. I wanted to choose a subject that I have a lot of affinity for to help keep my interest up throughout. Roses from Filoli became my answer. I liked this particular image because of some cool darks on one half of the painting and warm lights on the other. It seemed like an interesting challenge to make those set of colors mesh in a cohesive painting.
Framed in natural blond wood. Ready to hang.
