Rooted in the rich architectural and cultural layers of Louisville’s Germantown neighborhood, Echoes of Keswick captures the spirit of a building that has witnessed decades of change—from political rallies and chicken dinners to punk shows and neighborhood revival. Using a technique that involves transferring only the ink from magazines onto a layer of beeswax, the piece preserves not just a visual but an atmospheric memory.
Drawn to the stories held in old neon signs and brick façades, I often explore neighborhoods like this one with my camera/phone, documenting places that speak to transformation. I’m especially inspired by buildings being repurposed—where history is preserved but given new relevance. This painting honors that layered legacy, inviting the viewer to wonder what still echoes through the sign, and what might come next.
