Every year my family and extended family would go down to Anglesea in Victoria at the start of the Great Ocean Road for our school holidays. I have many fond memories of enjoying the paddle boats and my husband actually dropped his phone in the water whilst trying to impress me on one of the paddle boats! You can also hire the canoes but at high tide you need to lie flat to get under the bridges. This year at Christmas we were lucky to make it down to Anglesea from Sydney just before they closed the borders due to Covid. It was much quieter than usual. The weather was un-seasonally a bit blustery and grey but I was inspired by the pops of colour generated by the boats against the grey clouds and plants along the rivers edge. I also like all the boats lined up ready to hire the next day and I hope the tradition continues so my grandchildren can make the same memories too on the Anglesea River. This painting is painted with acrylics on a stretched deep canvas and is ready to hang.
