The cattail, a quintessential symbol and survivor of the plains, is the essence of wind and water. Its form has an evolved, aesthetic beauty that serves as a container for complex and diverse information. The artists, Rebecca Herman & Jim Moser, see them as historical scrapbooks in capsule form.

"Time Capsules", made of acid-aged steel, was installed in the Gene Leahy Mall in 2002 as part of the Wind & Water Sculpture Project (2002-05) created in conjunction with the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. It was moved from that location when renovations to the mall began in 2019, and placed in its current location as part of the Hanscom Park Lagoon revitalization.
