The Environmental Mitigation Display is a mixed media display that honors the 1952 Terminal. Also known as the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport Historical Display or "There Once was a Farm", the display utilizes panels, video, banners, and artifacts to inform passengers about the Airport history. The panels and video describe the history of the 1952 Terminal. Other terminal artifacts include of a clock, “PIT” sign, and a replica of the original terrazzo compass which recall the Art Deco style. The 1952 terminal was notable for its use of the International Style that emerged in the 1920s and 30s, championed by architect Joseph W. Hoover. Each artifact was saved from the previous terminal, and placed thoughtfully in the current terminal to ensure this rich history is not forgotten. This main exhibit is located in the Airside Transit Station and additional banners are located in Concourse B and D.
