This painting of Uluru is a bridge between my time in the American Southwest and the Australian Outback. Using the rich textures of oil paint, I wanted to capture the specific heat and weight of the rock as the sun hits it.
Rather than a simple postcard view, I focused on the "sacred" feeling of the site—the way the deep reds of the stone stand out against the soft, hazy colors of the desert floor. It’s a study in distance and stillness, created to bring a sense of the quiet desert into a home.
