There is a rhyme that begins "red sky at night, sailors delight." These earrings are an abstract rendering of a dark red sky at dusk at the beach. The dark blue beads are where the terminator is carrying the dark of night and the reds are the cloud reflections of the various reds and a touch of gold coming back to our eyes.
The technique is a Russian variation of Peyote Stitch. This weave works upward and outward forming a body that reminds me of a shawl or a pair of stylized wings. The focal bead at the top is Czech firepolished faceted glass bead.
Drop Length: 2.25 inches
Earwires are Argentium Sterling Silver - Argentium contains germanium which greatly retards tarnishing.
