Passersby will be enamored with this whimsical corten-steel piece, which sits at the corner of Mainstreet and Pine Curve. Diego shares that he draws ideas from the plant and animal kingdom. "There are aspects of it that are reminiscent of a serpent, as well as a new vine that is springing up out of the ground. The main portion of the sculpture is a large spiral, which also has many different meanings. It is also open to interpretation, so feel free to find your own take on it."
Diego is inspired by the amazing, effortless shapes of perfect symmetry—and perfect asymmetry—in nature. His metal sculptures are constructed with exposed rivets, wide lap welds, and excessively sturdy bolts, elements that add incredible strength to his structures and break up the curvature enough to give the viewer’s eye a chance to stop for a moment. “I’m fascinated with old industry and strive to find a perfect combination of organic contours while keeping my pieces balanced and anchored.”
