- Chasing the Sun
When our friends at the Fieldhouse approached us about creating a mural near the facility’s climbing wall, our answer was an enthusiastic “yes!” From there, the Public Art Commission got to work finding local talent—and soon extended an invitation to American Academy Middle School Art Instructor, Chase Trout, along with seven of her gifted middle school students: Nethra, Avi, London, Addie, Mia, Millie, and Lyla.
The group submitted several designs which were tweaked and finalized by members of the Public Art Commission, Parker Arts, and Parker Parks and Recreation.
With just three days to bring their vision to life, the team worked diligently together to finish on time (you may notice Chase cleverly using virtual reality goggles to assist in the freehand of the design)! Titled “Chasing the Sun,” the piece bursts with the color and vibrancy of Colorado’s beautiful surroundings.
Chase and her students were thrilled to be part of this special project.
“Creating this mural for the Town of Parker, Colorado has been an incredible and unforgettable experience. Having our students by my side throughout the process made the project truly special. Their energy and dedication brought the mural to life in a way I could never have done alone. I’m so grateful to be their teacher and mentor.”
Chase says she hopes this mural stands not only as a celebration of strength and perseverance, but also as a testament to community, creativity, and the power of young artists. “I look forward to visiting the Fieldhouse in the years to come and seeing this image continue to inspire everyone who passes by.”
Thank you, Chase, for sharing your time, talents, and remarkable students with our community. Special thanks as well to Parker Parks and Recreation and the Public Art Commission for sharing your photos and for helping bring this vision to life.
