The inspiration for 'Wood Dragon' struck me when I stumbled upon a particularly adorable planter in the shape of a dragon, similar to the one depicted in this artwork. I have a fondness for drawing inspiration from real-life objects and reimagining them in a fantastical setting, and this planter provided the perfect spark for my creativity.
Using micron pens and Copic markers, I set out to bring this fantastical creature to life on paper. One of the most enjoyable aspects of creating this piece was experimenting with blending techniques, shading, and texture. I wanted to capture the intricate details of the dragon's wooden skin, so I spent extra time perfecting the shading and adding texture to give it a lifelike appearance.
Each stroke of the pen and brush was carefully applied to achieve the desired effect, from the subtle gradations of color on the dragon's scales to the rough texture of its wooden features. I found joy in the process of bringing this creature to life, infusing it with personality and charm.
The blending techniques I used allowed me to seamlessly transition between different colors, creating depth and dimension in the artwork. It was particularly satisfying to see how the colors interacted and complemented each other, bringing the dragon to life in vivid detail.
Overall, 'Wood Dragon' is a testament to my love for both fantasy and the natural world. It's a whimsical interpretation of a real-life object, transformed into a magical creature that sparks the imagination and invites viewers into a world of wonder.
