Back to Bali is a memory quilt from my trip to Bali. The quilt starts with the appliqued elephant because the highlight of the trip was riding and being kissed by an elephant. I named it Back to Bali because, since the elephant’s trunk is down, he seems sad. So I imagine that the Sad elephant wants me to come back.
The unusual batik square in the border was a gift from out hotel in Bali. The red batik border fabric was purchased in the batik factory we visited. The floral print on the back is a reminder of our flower gratitude class.
Otherwise the design is random and just bubbled up from my soul. I try to include African fabric in most of my quilts so the quilt ends with an African border.
