Nicole's Story Behind The Painting:
Shortly before I made this artwork, I wrote the following poem which is incorporated into the painting -
Wind churns the dust
of the Earth.
And as I begin to flap my
Petaled wings of purple
(the deep kind you’d want to dive right into!),
fairy dust
(Oh it glimmers with the force of truth!)
drip drops drip drops from my lips,
Corners turned toward the clouds.
Fly!
(And soar, we did!)
Right through the mist!
A mist so pure with blue, and
I even noticed clusters of cream
threaded through.
Sometimes, I feel let down, as a person and as an artist, and doubt creeps in. It helps me to remember that this world is full of such beautiful and delicate things - flowers, butterflies, music, art.
There is strength in me, standing tall with my heart in my hands, offering up myself to share. It’s hard sometimes and yet I know the feeling of making art with my simple hands, magic pulsing through my veins. I know the sensation of singing songs and writing them. So I keep spreading the fairy dust around, because I’m grateful to be able to let magic flow through me.
