Nicky Myny is a Belgian painter based in South Africa. She creates large scale, colorful and gestural paintings that reflect her many experiences and affiliations.
Myny discovered the power of art while healing from a medical illness. This experience led her to pursue a Master's degree in Arts at PXL University College of Hasselt, Belgium. During her studies, she studied psychology, trained as a professional pedagogue by and co-active coach at CTI in creative (self) leadership, and contributed as a member of the I.R.S.E. in Paris, France.
She uses her creative voice to spark change by infusing art and the act of creation into leadership development and healthcare projects around the world. Her work is fueled by a joyful gratitude for life and an inspired dedication to helping others thrive.
As part of her commitment to care for others and manifest the connections that come from making Art to every corner of our communities, she founded Artkom, a process art studio in Belgium.
In addition to her creative practice, Nicky is also a founding partner of Unlocking Eve - an organisation that sets artistic leading direction to unlock integrated leadership for a balanced and healthier world.
Most recently, Nicky moderated the launch event for the SDGTent (Sustainable Development Goals) at World Economic Forum 2022 in Davos as part of Unlocking Eve.
Nicky's work has been exhibited widely in her home city of Belgium with additional shows in Davos, Switzerland. Her work is underpinned by a deep seated belief that we can create change through creativity and collaboration.

Statement
I am an artist that loves to play with color and create pieces that are expressive and joyful. I let my process become who I am, so my work can grow with me. The more I explore, the more parallels I see between the world and the act of painting. My paintings are bold and colorful on canvas or panel made with acrylics, paper and markers. My process is complex in that it's intertwined with living, working and playing.
Repetitive processes help me to bridge the thoughts between what is known and how it is felt. My inspiration is internal, a conscious analytical series of responses to an ever-expanding catalogue of understanding. Making art is an attempt to grow beyond myself. By composing a narrative in an expressive and colorful way, the goal of my art is to not only bring a unique beauty to seemingly everyday moments, but also bring joy, reflection and connection in life.
I work in the intersection of art and healthcare, informed by research on integrated leadership, good health and well-being. I believe that art is the new medicine – that it has the power to expand cultural imagination, to heal, and to connect our communities. I am motivated by a deep desire to be a voice for those who are often unheard in healthcare systems, from patients over researchers to global leaders.
I am grateful for the opportunity to use my voice to advocate for those who are often unheard in healthcare systems – patients over researchers to global leaders. I want to be a catalyst for change that energizes the soul of our world.
