It was a crisp fall morning in Grand Marais, MN. I loved how the morning light hit the differently shaped boats in the harbor. The "boat" on the left is more like a floating cabin...so fun! Anyway, I was nearly done with the painting and felt like something was missing. This couple walked into the scene on their morning stroll and paused just long enough for me to take a photo. Since I used photography, it disqualified this painting from the plein air competition, but I think they add so much to the scene!
