I painted this still life of a red madevilla vine en plein air. I was drawn to the way the plant interacted with the lit area behind it. It reminded me of that certain kind of lace. When I looked it up, the kind of lace I was thinking of is called Alencon lace (with the "C" having a squiggle at the bottom.)
