This painting is part of an on-going series called “Guilty Pleasures and Bad Habits” that explores the things we do that are not in our best interest but do anyway. Mia is a model and burlesque dancer in New York City who I visited to photograph for this painting. Prior to our visit, I asked her what one of her guilty pleasures was. One of them was doughnuts. Not just any doughnut but frosted, fresh, and hot ones from the Dunkin Donuts a few floors down from her apartment. As we ate our sticky goodies, Mia talked about how staying in shape is hard for her sometimes and said "I know this is going right to my hips but I don't care, I'm going to eat the doughnut."
