The Damascus Gate

The artist traveled to Israel in 2003 to research and paint biblical scenes from the Holy Land. The actual Damascus Gate lies on the north wall of the old city in Jerusalem and is likely the gate that Saul (later Paul) traveled through on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians. On the road to Damascus, Saul was converted through a divine encounter with the risen Christ Himself.
