This painting is based on a photo taken through a twelfth-floor window of the Angad Arts Hotel in the Grand Center Arts District in 2021. It's composition of shadow shapes, saturated colors and aerial perspective is representational but leans toward abstraction. Painters that I admire, and study include Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud and William Kohn. In 2024 the building is undergoing extensive renovation with an addition of a dramatic new wing that will change this view and character of the building. I am happy for the coming changes to the home of the St. Louis Symphony, but I am glad that I painted this elevation when I did.
Price includes custom float frame, black.
