2025 Arctic Circle Paintings
The Arctic Circle Paintings are inspired by my 2-week trip sailing on board the Rembrandt Van Rijn tall ship in the waters off Svalbard. These paintings record my memory of the shifting climate/landscape as a consequence of global warming.
2025 Arctic Circle Watercolors
In April 2025, I joined the Arctic Circle Residency in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. This was a 2-week sailing trip aboard a barquentine ship, the Rembrandt Van Rijn. 28 artists- painters, writers, filmmakers, poets, sculptors, guides and crew, lived and worked exploring the glaciers, water, ice, birds, and animals in the high Arctic. During the residency, I painted plein air watercolors. The watercolors document the landscape and are the inspiration for a new series of larger paintings based on my experience.
