can't help think of the spirits of light and dark not only in the world but in some form in each of us dancing around each the other with others interacting in these dances. And just as the two spirits are part of the one, so these trees are but part of the one. In reality I sit in the sand with my back against the base of a tree showing two of its branches.
Navajo guide Ray told me this tree that lies dead and twisted in Monument Valle was once featured by National Geographic. Of course that was when the tree was green and alive.
Very few things of life that stand even that tall survive out here. If you do see a tree it is likely over a spring. I myself saw where the green grows up and around in many forms softening the harsh surroundings.
