Carved by artist in the Traditional Japanese Noh mask style. The Japanese Mihon Noh Mask series are comprised of masks that represent demons, gods, and ghosts from ancient Buddhist mythology. Noh mask's are typically carved with cypress then painted over, but mahagony was chosen to create a distinct style for the artist.
Carved mahogany mask with matte finish. Light wood discoloration on nose and eyebrows. Distinct wood grain lines on eyebrows and on bottom lip. Almond shaped eyes carved out entirely. Top row of six teeth showing. Thin upper lip and thick bottom lip.
