Ko'Omote
Wood, cypress
Eyes carved in boomerang shape with circular pupil cutouts. Small nostrils. Small mouth opened in a slight smile. Top row of six teeth visible. Bottom row covered by lip. Two shallow circle carvings for dimples on each side of the mouth.
First Noh mask ever carved by artist. This style of mask is the first required piece for Noh Mask artists during their training. It can take years for some artists to perfect before moving on to the next level. It symbolizes a young woman's innocence and purity.
