Circle mandala. Flower-shaped gold button embellishment defines the center point of mandala, followed by a small pink border. The circle outside of the pink border is left unpainted and extends to triangular shapes on four sides of the circle. Purple and blue triangles painted in between the wooden triangular shapes, surrounded by a pink border. Outer border of mandala left unpainted.
The Recycling the Sacred collection is composed of mandalas whose materials were primarily sourced from second hand stores. The artist began collecting variations of wood from second hand stores to later repurpose and give them "a new dignity and life." Many of the patterns used are inspired by ancient native cultures, particularly the basket and pottery designs of the Huhugam. Most of the mandalas take a circle shape, celebrating the Sacred Circle symbol and our place in it.
