Calaca #88. Full face mask used in performances by Primavera Ballet Folklorico of Phoenix, AZ. The eyes are outlined in bold bright red, the teeth are outlined in light pink and light purple, the nose is a light purple, and on the chin, cheeks, and forehead is an intricate interwoven Mesoamerican inspired design in green yellow with blue outlines on the cheeks and at the center of the chin there are three gold gems.
It is made of plaster bandage and paper clay, painted with acrylic paints and ribbon, which ties the mask to the performer.
These masks are part of the Performance Collection, which contains pieces available for loan to use in community and artistic performances.
