Axé III. Full-face calaca skeleton mask made of plaster bandage and paper clay, painted with acrylic paints and ribbon, which ties the mask to the performer.
Used by Axé Capoeira AZ during their drum processions at Cultural Coalition festivals. These masks are part of the Performance Collection, which contains pieces available for loan to use in community and artistic performances.
Orange curved down semi-sircle high on forehead with blue dot with orange outline beneath it. Orange eyebrows that extend upward in a scroll design from inner corner. Orange swirls with orange dots inside them on sides of forehead, outlined with thin blue wavy lines. Orange swirls with orange dots inside them on both cheeks, extending from bottom of eyes. Thin blue lines around nose cut out. Orange V's and lines on either side of chin with blue dot with orange outline in center of chin. Teeth painted dark pink and blue.
