Andrea. Plaster bandage, paper clay, painted with acrylics. Half mask. Part of the Sun Serpent Series.
Male old man figure. Carved and painted wrinkles all over face. Ages spots and moles on forehead and cheeks. One large dark brown mole on left cheek. Eyebrows sculpted with left brow raised, right brow turned down. Eyebrows painted white with hair lines carved in. Mask has large nose with bumps and spots on it. Upper lip has two white teeth hanging down.
The Sun Serpent was a play produced by Childsplay and CALA Alliance, performed at Tempe Center for the Arts in 2011.
Artist and sculptor Zarco Guerrero made about 30 masks for the performance. All of the masks were made directly on the actors to better fit them during the performance.
