Andrea #28. Plaster bandage, paper clay, painted with acrylics. Part of the Sun Serpent Series.
Full face handheld mask male figure. Overall smooth mask painted tan. Raised sculpted eyebrows, mustache, and full goatee, carved with hairlines and painted brown with red highlights in the mustache and beard. Eyes have blue iris, with black painted outline, and white on both sides, and red on lower lids of eyes. Mouth is slightly parted with bottom lip painted light red.
The Sun Serpent was a play produced by Childsplay, performed at Tempe Center for the Arts in 2011.
Artist and sculptor Zarco Guerrero made about 30 masks for the performance. All of the masks were made directly on the actors to better fit them during the performance.
