Axé IX. Full-face calaca skeleton mask made of plaster bandage and paper clay, painted with acrylic paints and ribbon, which ties the mask to the performer.
Used by Axé Capoeira AZ during their drum processions at Cultural Coalition festivals. These masks are part of the Performance Collection, which contains pieces available for loan to use in community and artistic performances.
Two orange scroll designs on forehead with a horizontal line between them and an upside down triangle beneath that line pointing to a light blue circle with orange outline. Orange eyebrows and geometric scroll design on cheeks. Blue outline of nose cut out. Blue and orange wavy lines along the sides of mask. Scalloped orange shape on chin with blue circle above it with an orange outline. Teeth are painted pink and blue.
