As an artist, I dedicated several paintings to the Renaissance in the 1990s, based on my friendship with priest Antoine Bodar. In this painting, Antoine Bodar is in conversation with Erasmus and Petrarch, his soulmates through the ages. The palace of Frederico de Montefeltro is in Urbino in the background, where Castiglione and Raphael were at home.
NB: On the lower right corner, as a signature, is the small sign of the diptych referring to Quinten Matsys' diptych of Erasmus and Pieter Gilles of 1517, which was a present to their mutual friend Thomas More. As a symbol of Friendship throughout the times, I used this sign during 1995 -1997 to mark the painting as belonging to the series of paintings inspired by the friendship with art-historian, theologian, philosopher, author and priest, Antoine Bodar.
