This painting is related to the larger painting "Palazzo Ducale”. An arcade with rearing horses at a courtyard. The Renaissance palace presented in these series of paintings is the palace of the 15th century humanist and civil leader Frederico da Montefeltro in Urbino, who kept a comprehensive library at his Ducal Palace and was a great supporter of the fine arts, architecture, philosophy and literature. Prominent intellectuals and artists were among his court, eloquently described by Castiglione in his Book of Courtiers, "Il Libro del Cortegiano". (1528)
