This scene is from the area of New Smyrna Beach, FL and I stood in the ocean taking photos of all kinds of waves. I love painting them, and knowing how they felt is a big key to creating waves that look real. There is something mesmerizing when watching them roll in, break and watch the water being pulled back out for the next one. I started this painting several years ago and put it aside because it was not working. When I pulled it out recently to start on it again, I knew what I wanted and thankfully it turned out as I wanted. It reminds me of the day I was standing in the water feeling those waves come and go.
