This painting is from a photo, and a scene I have painted multiple times ... close up, oil or pastel, with bee boxes, without bee boxes, etc. This time I wanted to paint it with colors that were not the “local color.” I love putting a warm color under my greens, so I decided not to use the green. Purple and yellow are opposites on the color wheel, so this is called a “complementary” color scheme. I paint so many paintings that are in the “green” range, this was loads of fun. The scene is from North Georgia and almost to the Tennessee line just North of Blue Ridge, GA.
