This painting is part of another diptych with a lot of references. The painting titles are pulled from Dr. Seus’s Thing One and Thing Two. The imagined characters of my protagonists are more like the Erinyes than Muses. I think of my painted figures as protagonists, perhaps because I do so much writing round them. This is another painting with a prose poem. One of models was a past boss and a mother of several children. Two types of people who can be guaranteed to keep one on one’s toes and producing what one is supposed to. In my case artwork. As I said in my poem, “my muses follow me around the studio and offer recriminations if I venture out of it.”
