This Plastic Space abstraction visits the history of one lady in three generations. She looks into the mirror and sees a reflection of her ancestors from slavery, to sharecropper to her own modern image. This painting was a challenge to get the story into the painting. I had to sketch the idea in graphite until I was satisfied with the composition, balance and light to dark. Then I transferred the sketch to the canvas and began to add the colors in oil. This painting took about a year of off and on work until I was satisfied.
