A fellow artist was the inspiration for this piece. This was an early challenge to do a figurative piece using my Plastic Space abstraction. First I created a sketch in graphite of the idea and worked out the balance and design. This took three weeks until I was satisfied of the composition. Then I transferred the design onto the canvas and began to add the color in oil. This process took two months until I was satisfied with color, balance, and design. The musical instrument in the painting is a creation of my imagination as is the background room. Notice the mask in the left background which is my bow to the ancestors and something I try to add in most of my Plastic Space abstraction paintings.
